{"id":472,"date":"2019-07-12T13:33:53","date_gmt":"2019-07-12T06:33:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev3.mypagevn.com\/phucloi\/?p=472"},"modified":"2019-07-12T13:42:08","modified_gmt":"2019-07-12T06:42:08","slug":"cajuput-tree-trellises-used-to-grow-pepper-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev3.mypagevn.com\/phucloi\/cajuput-tree-trellises-used-to-grow-pepper-2.html","title":{"rendered":"Cajuput tree trellises used to grow pepper"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KI\u00caN GIANG \u2014\u00a0Farmers in Ki\u00ean Giang Province\u2019s G\u00f2 Quao District are using environmentally-friendly cajuput trees as trellises instead of concrete or wooden pillars to grow pepper plants.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the C\u1eedu Long (Mekong) Delta district\u2019s 250ha of pepper are using cajuput trees, saving costs for farmers.<\/p>\n<p>Nguy\u1ec5n Anh V\u0169, who has planted pepper with the trees in G\u00f2 Quao\u2019s V\u0129nh H\u00f2a H\u01b0ng B\u1eafc Commune for 14 years, said widespread use of the trees began in 2000.<\/p>\n<p>Many farmers are also growing pepper under Vietnamese good agricultural practices (VietGAP) standards and organic standards.<\/p>\n<p>The district has 20ha of pepper meeting VietGAP standards and 11.8ha of organic pepper meeting US, Japanese and EU standards.<\/p>\n<p>The Ph\u00fa Qu\u1ed1c Biology Nature Limited Company, G\u00f2 Quao District agricultural authorities and a co-operative team of 12 households in V\u0129nh H\u00f2a H\u01b0ng B\u1eafc and V\u0129nh H\u00f2a H\u01b0ng Nam began the organic pepper model in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>V\u00f5 \u0110\u1ee9c Huy, director of the company, said the growing of organic pepper had increased profits for farmers, and created more hygienic plants which are exported to the US and Germany.<\/p>\n<p>Farmers who grow organic pepper are guaranteed a price of VN\u011030,000 (US$1.3) a kilo higher than the market price, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Organic pepper sells for VN\u011080,000 ($3.4) a kilo.<\/p>\n<p>Phan V\u0103n Khang, who grows 2ha of organic pepper in V\u0129nh H\u00f2a H\u01b0ng Nam Commune, said: \u201cOrganic pepper develops well and is less susceptible to\u00a0diseases compared to traditionally planted pepper.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The company has taught households how to grow organic pepper, and use organic fertiliser and bio-products.<\/p>\n<p>He harvested more than 6 tonnes of pepper in the harvest season and earned a profit of VN\u0110520 million ($22,200).<\/p>\n<p>Planting organic pepper has many benefits, including improving the fertility of soil and increasing the number of good microorganisms in the soil, according to farmers.<\/p>\n<p>D\u01b0\u01a1ng Duy Duy\u1ec7t, deputy head of the district\u2019s Agriculture and Rural Development Bureau, said: \u201cBased on this success, the district will continue to co-operate with the company to expand organic pepper growing area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The district would\u00a0also continue to offer advanced farming techniques for farmers to grow organic pepper, he said.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the district increased the organic pepper growing area by 10ha and plans to have 100ha of organic pepper in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Pepper is a priority product for development in the province. \u2014\u00a0VNS<\/p>\n<p>(Source: Vietnam news)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KI\u00caN GIANG \u2014\u00a0Farmers in Ki\u00ean Giang Province\u2019s G\u00f2 Quao District are using environmentally-friendly cajuput trees as trellises instead of concrete or wooden pillars to grow pepper plants.
